Twelve miles south of Thomaston, is the only remaining covered bridge in Upson County, Georgia. It was built in 1895 by Dr. J.W. Herring, a physician of considerable engineering ability who constructed similar bridges throughout the area. The bridge spans Auchumpkee Creek and is built of heavy timber and cross beams held in place by wooden pegs. by MaryAlice
