Old saw mill at Parham. Looking west. This may seem quaint to you. It was the hundreds of similar saw mills that took the logs that opened the land and paid for the railways in the 1890's. Farmers became loggers in the winter, the saw mills ran as long as there was light to see in the spring time. Distant cities relied on them for lumber to grow. by Steve Manders

This beautiful rainbow marks the end of a violent storm that left 350,000 people without power in eastern Ontario and parts of Quebec on July 19 2013. Trans-Canada Trail. Wooden bridge built by the Ontario & Quebec Railway. The line was begun in 1881. It was leased to CPR in 1884 for 999 years, and abandoned by CPR in 1971. The line ran from Perth, Sharbot Lake, Tweed, Peterborough and to Toronto. CPR had another rail line near by, and did not need this one. OFSC trail E108. by Steve Manders
