A meeting of three titans! The CP and CN trans-continental railways almost meet here and both cross the former Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway (OA&PS) railway bed, now the Rose Point Recreational Trail. The OA&PS railway was the bussiest railway in the world in 1910 with a freight train every 20 minutes from its docks on Georgian Bay to Montreal.

Facinating geology. Note the sharp vertical fault line across the black and white banded rock at the top, and the diagonal intrusion of pink rock. Also, note the fault line going to the lower right, the rock was heavily deformed before finally breaking. The banding in the black and white rock is from extensive compression, and stretching of the sub-molten rock, not from intrusions. by Steve Manders
The British ship Royal George, played by the U.S. Niagara in the re-enactment of the war of 1812 sails in front of the condo tower, the Royal George. June 30 2012. This ship spent the night beside the Holiday Inn, where the original ship was pounded by 6 American gun boats sailing into this narrow body of water on Nov. 10, 1812. Several houses were damaged too. Only 2 Americans were killed, one when his canon blew up, one drowned. by Steve Manders
