Chojijin is a fortress built in 1656 during the Joseon Era and used to defend against military aggressions from Japan and America in the 1870s. A battle broke out in 1871 allowing this fortress to be occupied by U.S. troops and at that time all the military facilities, including an armory and a powder magazine, were destroyed.
