Chalmers Church began in 1840 in association with the Free Church of Scotland. This church was built in 1849 to 1888. It joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. This corner lot gives an unobstructed view of this beautiful structure. by Steve Manders

The Kawartha Voyageur enters Kingston Mills locks. Every inch of length, width and height are used by this cruise boat built it to clear all the locks in the system. Zoom in closer and more pictures will appear. by Steve Manders

This was a popular lake access to drive cars to Wolfe Island 5 km. away, on the ice when it was thick enough. The ice road was plowed of snow and marked with used Christmas trees. In Jan. 15 1984, 2 cars with 6 people broke throught the ice at night, killing a mother and her 2 children. Driving onto the ice was prohibited after 1984. This historic ice road was no longer needed once the Wolfe Island ferry had ice breaking capabilities. by Steve Manders

The Lakefield Rail Trail beside county road 32 and the Otonabee River. The Midland Railway (MR) railway here was built in 1869, leased to the Grand Trunk Railway in 1884, The GTR took possession in 1893. Try picturing an old steam locomotive spewing black smoke, white steam and the whistle blowing here, and only horse powered traffic on the road. It used wood for fuel before coal was available. by Steve Manders
