More affordable row housing built in1867, called Mozart Terrace. Municipal water was available in iron and lead pipes, sewage went through hand laid stone sewers, but it would have to have been heated by expensive wood until 1871 when coal was first available. Walls were not insulated, and the windows were single pane. The house was 21 years old before hydro was available for lights and telephone. T.V had to wait 60 more years, and the internet had to wait a century. by Steve Manders
The third campus for Queen's College, later Queen's University, from 1847 to 1854. It was a theology college for St.Andrews Presbyterian Church at that time. It was rented from George Brown, architect of Kingston City Hall, and the manse at St.Andrews. They moved to Summerhill on the present Queen's campus after here. They started at 67 Colborne St, then 230 / 232 Princess Street. Sir John A. McDonald would have been involved in it. by Steve Manders

As many as 24 trains a day ran up this street in Marmora from 1884 to the 1970's for the Marmora Railway and Mining Company, a branch of the Central Ontario Railway (COR), later owned by the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) and finally Canadian National (CN). by Steve Manders
Semi-detached houses like this were very common in 1850 when it was built. They may not have had municipal water and sewer when it was built, but it would have been available shortly after. It relied on wood heat and it was expensive, and the house would not have been insulated. Water mains and sewers were hand dug, and had to go at least 1.2 m. (4 ft.) deep to get below the frost line to prevent freezing. It was slow and expensive to install. Plagues made municipal water a necessity. by Steve Manders
The old Newfoundland Railway bed, Bonavista branch line. It was 88 miles, 142 km. long. It was narrow gauge tracks, at 3 ft. 6 inches wide (1067 mm.) The trails could be blown off the tracks with strong winds. Built between 1909 and 1911, closed in 1983. Now a recreation trail. Looking east. by Steve Manders

A long ancient fault line in the Canadian shield rock made this hill and marsh. This made it easy to build the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) in 1912 by simply dredging the mud for the railway base. No tree cutting, rock blasting and so on. The fault line goes from near Perth Road Village to Indian Lake near Chaffey's Locks in a NE direction. Any savings here was quickly lost just to the north of here. by Steve Manders
