The Wolfe Island ferry, January 20 2013 in winds gusting to 70 kph. This ferry can carry up to 52 cars and 300 people. It has heated cabins with washrooms along the sides for walk on traffic and cyclists. There are benches on the upper deck for your enjoyment and relaxation. The ride is free for passengers and cars, as is the car wash. by Steve Manders

Cataraqui Trail using the old Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) bed. It was originally built by the Bay of Quinte Railway (BQR) about 1893 from Harrowsmith to Sydenham to ship out the mica that was barged down Sydenham lake to a dock behind the IGA store. The train station was at the location of the present beer store. It was acquired by CNoR in 1910, CNR in 1923, then became CN. The rails were removed in the early 1990's by CN. by Steve Manders

I know it is ugly, but by the time you see this picture it will be gone. Former 2 bay locomotive repair shop built for the Bay of Quinte Railway about 1890. Known locally as the veneer factory. A piece of important but unglamorus history. The dark green panels above the sliding door were to accommodate the tall smoke stacks of the engines. by Steve Manders

Below Simcoe Falls. Mid April at peak spring run off. This a clear day, it is spray, not fog above the water. The water is going so fast, that it is a metre or more higher on the right side than the left, as the water does a sharp turn. By late summer it dries out. by Steve Manders
