John Thompson Hall, built in 1894 as an Oddfellows Lodge, called Cornucopia. Now occasionally used for concerts. This tiny settlement of Snow Road in the wilderness had a church, school, theater and a train station. The name Snow was a person, not the road condition. by Steve Manders

Snow Road Presbyterian Church, established 1885. Snow Road was named after a Mr. Snow who was a road surverer. Snow Road was once the largest shipping location for maple syrup in the Dominion of Canada. The Kingston and Pembrooke Railway had a station a few hundred meters south of here after 1883. Squared pine logs was the greatest volume item exported from here. by Steve Manders

New ticket office, souvenire shop and interpretative center for Fort Henry. The satellite photo shows it under construction on the east side of the parking lot. This beautiful rainbow marks the end of a violent storm that left 350,000 people without power in eastern Ontario and parts of Quebec on July 19 2013. There was massive tree damage throughout Algonquin Provincial Park and the Petawawa and Pembroke areas. by Steve Manders

Crystalline marble rock from one of the largest landslides in southern Ontario that occured on the right side of the trail about 1914 is exposed as some is used for repair work to the Cataraqui Trail, by the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority. The CNoR rainway and trail are built along an ancient 10 km. long fault line with uplifted granite on the west side. by Steve Manders
