This old Georgian house built in 1829 for Richard Miskin and his wife Sarah. Window glass was hand made back then, in small fragile sheets and had to be protected by shutters in storms. The fence is a Scottish/Irish dry stone design. It is uniquely low and in using alternating sizes of cap stones. There are many examples on Amherst Island, and scattered around Ontario. Most are relatively short, in front of houses or churches, indicating that they were more for asthetics than function. by Steve Manders

There are few of these old little latticed sheds left. Farmers used to place their large cans of milk in them for pick up. They provided shade and a breeze at the same time. by Steve Manders
Your trail guide says that this was formed by a water fall, but it was not. See comments below. A sample of a sandstone log that would have done this, is on display at Miller Hall Museum of Geology at Queens University, on the back wall. It is about a half m. long, and a third m. in diameter. This is 500 million year old conglomerate and orthoquartzites of the Upper Cambrian era. by Steve Manders
Lobster traps stored along the highway away from any houses or the water. There were dozens of such stashes along here. This is one of many examples of evidence that the residents don't worry about theft. It says a lot about the people here. by Steve Manders
