This grassy area has a stone embankmemt similar to the others built in the area by the logging industry after 1830. It was probably a staging area for logs gathered in the winter, to wait for the spring run off to take down the Napanee River. by Steve Manders

Entrance to the creek draining Thirteen and Thirty Island Lakes. This was once an important native canoe route between the Napanee River system and the Rideau River at Bedford Mills. Pine logs were also floated down the Napanee River from here, with many obstacles along the way. by Steve Manders

Market Battery was built to defended Kingston in 1846. Some of it's stone were used to built the K&P train station on the left in 1884. Kingston City Hall was built in 1843, 3 years after a massive fire and explosion destroyed much of this area. Kingston had 50 houses in 1792. The population was about 8,500 in 1848. Six American ships attacked here on November 10 1812 to destroy the ship the Royal George. by Steve Manders
