Home of Sir. John A. McDonald from 1856 to 1860, he later became Prime Minister of Canada. He rented this place for his family as he was often out of town. This house was built in 1842. It probably had running water which became available after 1850, but no hot water on tap. It was not insulated, it was heated expensive with wood, and lit with oil lamps. by Steve Manders

Fine old stone house. The stone bay window, and semi-circular window tops are unique for this era. Probably built about 1850 when the asymetrical design became popular, and before the rail way brought in brick from Napanee. by Steve Manders
The massive steeple at the rear of the Church of the Good Thief. Built by inmates from Kingston Pen. It taught trades to the inmates, and beat sitting around all day inside the pen. The church is being closed in Sept 2013 after 121 years of service. by Steve Manders
