Home of Sir. John A. McDonald from 1856 to 1860, he later became Prime Minister of Canada. He rented this place for his family as he was often out of town. This house was built in 1842. It probably had running water which became available after 1850, but no hot water on tap. It was not insulated, it was heated expensive with wood, and lit with oil lamps.
